The University Today

The Rector of the Rostov State Transport University is Vladimir D. Vereskun, Doctor of Technical Sciences.

The RSTU occupies a high position in the rating of the Russian technical universities. Having become a leader among the South-Russian universities, the RSTU makes a significant contribution into the strengthening of Russia’s positions in the world market of scientific and intellectual educational service by training highly skilled professionals.

The University comprises 10 departments, 7 branches in the Southern and North-Caucasian Federal Districts, the Lyceum and the College.

The RSTU is a mighty educational complex with a powerful faculty and a unique educational, laboratory equipment and social facilities.

The University educates specialists for all the transport departments and companies. The students get profound knowledge of the achievements of the Russian and foreign transport science, get practical training at the firms that are well-known as the leaders in the sphere of rail transport both in Russia and abroad. The RSTU conducts scientific research required by the state innovative policy and federal, industrial and regional projects. The availability of highly-skilled staff – candidates and doctors of different sciences, profound working experience, modern equipment in the unique scientific labs and educational classrooms provide the possibility of conducting a complete cycle of scientific research at the University – starting from designing to supervising the process of operation.

The RSTU has kept all the best traditions of the higher education, of railway industry and educational process. One of them is a stable demand of young specialists at the working market: almost 100% of the graduating students get placement at the companies of the “Russian Railways” (JSC “RZD”) and other industries of Russian economy.

The RSTU pays much attention to the development of international cooperation. International cooperation is one of the most important factors of perfecting the quality of education, providing conditions for development of professional traits of future specialists. The programme of teachers’, students’ and post-graduate students’ exchanges in cooperation with foreign universities-partners has been launched. Nowadays, special attention is paid to realizing of joint projects together with leading educational institutions of France (Versailles Academy, Sorbonne, the University of Le-Man and other). It makes possible for the students to get education abroad and be awarded with an international diploma in addition to the Russian one.

The scientists of the RSTU actively participate in the contests for getting grants of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation and Russian Fund of Fundamental Research.
